A while ago we were at the hospital and I came across a flyer about "songs of love".

Here's a little more information about it....

THE SONGS OF LOVE FOUNDATION- is dedicated to the memory of Julio Beltzer, a talented singer/songwritter who died in 1984. The Foundation brings together songwritters, singers, instrumentalists and technicians to create unique lyrics and melodies, each highlighting a child's distinct personality. Each song is one-of-a-kind and never duplicated! The songs are delivered on a personalized CD with the accompanying lyrics. There is absolutely no charge for this service.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS: hospitalized and homebound patients receive the profile sheet which can be found on the back of the "songs of love pamphlet. These forms can be filled out by parents, grandparents, children, or healthcare professionals. Based on the information provided on the profile, Songs of Love gets to work finding the appropriate songwritters and recording artists to create and perform an original composition for each individual child. Musical styles vary from pop, rock, and soul to folk, classical, country, jazz and rap. Songs can be performed in any language.

WHO CAN REFER A CHILD FOR A SONG?

Health professionals, such as a child life specialists, social workers, doctors, nurses. A child's parent(s) or legal guardian(s).

WHO IS ELIGEBLE FOR A SONG?

Any child or young adult up to the age of 21 with a chronic or life threatening illness.

On November 7, 2005 I received Timothy's very own "Song of Love" in the mail. When I played it it brought tears to my eyes.. It's really amazing that people are willing to do this for our kids, the lyrics are so personal, and as soon as Timothy heard it he was smiling. I can't thank them enough for what they have done for us. This is truly amazing!! The Words, Music, and Vocals were done by Carl Allocco.
